SWWR Certificate in Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release

Practical course Saturday 29th April 2023

We are pleased to announce that our practical course day for all those who have completed (or booked) ALL FOUR of our Certificate in Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release courses online is now open.

The course will run for a day between 10am and 4.30pm on Saturday 29^th April 2023.

There will be an absolute maximum of 40 delegates on the day and these will be divided into four groups with a maximum of 15 and rotate around four sessions (plus a break for lunch) over the day. The sessions will be based upon the practical components of the in-person courses that have been missed by attending the course online. Groups are likely to be further subdivided for some sessions.

The four sessions will include:

Course 1 practical – a tour of SWWR site, new treatment centre and outside rehabilitation enclosures

Course 2 practical – handling equipment, PPE, diets and housing

Course 3 practical – examination, injection techniques, wing bandaging (note this session involves the use of dead wild animals)

Course 4 practical – soft release set ups and post release monitoring techniques

The course will of course take place at Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Somerset. And promises a full day of practical sessions that compliment the learning you have already done on our wildlife courses. This practical course is also a great opportunity to meet fellow rehabilitators and share knowledge, we may even continue the conversations and networking down the local pub after the event.

All those completing the practical day (and have completed all four online courses) will receive a printed certificate and a SWWR Certificate badge.
