Home Educator Day: Moths and Mammals
June 9 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
What lives in the wild at Secret World? Let’s find out!
The night before our Head of Education and Public Relations, George sets harmless moth and small mammal traps. When you arrive we will head out to discover the hidden wildlife living on our doorstep. During this exciting session, participants will learn how we use these traps to study biodiversity, then help identify the species caught (and safely released) using field guides and nature apps.
Young people will get to see wildlife research in action and gain a better understanding of how scientists monitor populations and habitats to help protect our natural world.
This is a great session for anyone interested in ecology, fieldwork, or animal behaviour.
Refreshments for attendees are included in the ticket price. Adults are welcome to stay, or children may be dropped off and collected at the end of the session.
Please note: Secret World is a working wildlife hospital, and for welfare reasons there is no contact with the animals in our care.
